Gaming Public Service Announcement: First Person Shooter Style Games

Those of you that have read this blog for the last year or so have probably heard me say, repeatedly, that I am no good at games that play from the first person shooter perspective. I find it wholly disorienting. I am here to tell you I may have finally 'learned' how to play games in the FPS style, as so many of you had advised.

Last year, I stepped cautiously out into the world of Deus Ex, and if you've read my review, you know that I absolutely loved the game and the whole look and feel of it. The fact that the game was in an FPS style didnt faze me as much as I thought it would. The story pulled me through it, but the controls werent as bad as I expected them to be.

Enter Bioshock. I grant you I've only played it for a few days, but I'm utterly engrossed. The weapon system is fascinating, each power or gun finding varying uses and upgrades, as needed. The morality issues, as with Deus Ex, keeps me engaged.

Now, I found myself on Amazon adding games to my Wish List, because thats what I need, more games. But what I've come to the conclusion is that I have missed out on so many good games because Medal of Honour Front Line ruined FPS style games for me. The question is, are there any games I shouldnt miss, and any new ones coming out I should grab?

Right now the short list is Borderlands 2 and Aliens Colonial Marines - any others?

I want to avoid getting too many more older games, but if it is worthwhile, I'll add it to my wish list here and Amazon and have at it!
